Marie E. (Pavlik) Uhrinek

June 29, 1921 ~ March 15, 2022 (age 100)

Obituary

Marie Elizabeth Ann Uhrinek, now at the feet of Jesus and Mary, died Tuesday. March 15, 2022.  Reunited with her loving husband Martin who passed in 1980, upon seeing her spirit he must have said “it’s about time Marie”. Her four boys; Bernard (Joyce, 2008), James (Patrice), Stephen and Chris cherished the wonderful life they shared with their mother. Thanks Mom, for the best bacon & egg breakfast on earth, dinners made from scratch and homemade desserts that could never be duplicated by the finest pastry chefs.  Born June 29,1921 in South Greensburg, she was the daughter of the late Stephen Pavlik and Veronica (Vrable) Pavlik. She attended and graduated from the former St. Benedict School in Greensburg and was a 1940 graduate of Greensburg High School. Marie was a former member of Blessed Sacrament Cathedral and currently a member of St. Bruno Church in South Greensburg where she was baptized and married.  Family was what it was all about for Marie, since she had no siblings, she always encouraged us to enjoy our siblings and their families. Talked with pride about her grandchildren; Mark (Kathy), Tracy (Tim), David, Kevin (Jennifer), Kristi (Matt), Kelli (Mike), Vincent and Sean. Great grandchildren; Christian, Ethan, Abigail, Caleb, Jacob, Alex, Jaxson, Tatum, Brooke, Brynn, Lenox, and Ryan. Special thoughts to Sister-in-law Gen & daughter’s; Maureen, Eileen, Sharon, Carol, and Godson Dennis.  Each summer during the 1960’s Marie would take her boys to Forbes Field to a doubleheader to watch her favorite player Roberto Clemente as we sat in the right field stands. We would always pray that the games would go extra innings so we could soak in the entire day until we would eventually catch the bus back home and dream of what was. The winter holidays were a special time also when we would go to downtown Pittsburgh taking in the seasonal festivities. We would make a day of it going to all the large department stores, lunch, a movie then more shopping and round it off with an appetizing restaurant dinner. As we got older and moved on Marie would invite our cousins and her grandchildren on the holiday trip.  Helping and caring about people was her gift to the world from her many years of volunteering at Saint Anne Home to her nonjudgmental attitude towards people which she exemplified every day. Family, friends, bowling, and chocolate were just a few earthly delights that made Marie a positive and happy person. Marie’s faith in God was resolute along with The "Golden Rule”; "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" which she had taken to heart. Now, Marie & Martin are together once again to rejoice with the heavenly hosts.  Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Marie, Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Clement L. Pantalone Funeral Home, Inc. 409 W. Pittsburgh Street, Greensburg, PA 15601, (724) 837-0020.  Parting prayers will be held in the funeral home Saturday 10:15 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Bruno Church, South Greensburg.  Entombment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Greensburg.  Marie’s family has entrusted her care to the Pantalone Funeral Home Inc., Greensburg.  For online condolences / directions, visit us at pantalone.com.
