Born on March 6th, 1949, Thomas Richard Beatty Jr., 77, of Jeannette, PA, passed away June 2nd, 2026, at Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Raised in Jeannette, Tom enjoyed being an Eagle Scout and exploring the neighborhood in his adolescence. At 18 years old, Tom willingly enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served as a combat medic and auxiliary police officer in the 82nd Airborne Division. As a Vietnam Veteran, he honored his fallen comrades and showed pride in his service every day of his life.
Tom continued to be a healer after his service ended, first as an EMT, then as the first paramedic in Jeannette, and after as an x-ray technician. Later in his career, Tom worked as a computer technician, then worked in a management role until his retirement.
Tom was prideful, powerful, and empathetic. He spent his lifetime pursuing knowledge and, as a self-professed teacher, he shared his expertise with anyone willing to listen. If a topic or hobby caught his interest, he strived to master it. Karate, specifically ninjutsu, was a particularly meaningful passion of his and through his dedication he earned a 4th degree black belt in the discipline. He was particularly proud of his experience training with the grandmaster.
Thomas held many titles and enjoyed countless passions. He loved Christmas and spent the entire year planning new projects to out decorate himself and spread Christmas magic. He was an avid fish keeper and fisherman, collector, philosopher, archer, rifleman, hunter, photographer, instructor, bowler, and so much more, but his greatest love was for his wife of 29 years, Karen, and his children, Richard Beatty (fiancé Holly Gilligan) of North Huntington, PA, Christopher Beatty (Alysha) of Canton, OH, and Alysha (Beatty) Norris (Zachary Norris) of Clearville, PA. Tom’s legacy will continue through his grandchildren, Abigail Beatty, Adam Beatty, Emma Beatty, Isaac Beatty, Enzlie Norris, Declan Norris, and Daimon Norris, all of whom he loved deeply and spoke of with pride every chance he had.
Thomas was proceeded in death by his mother, Leona Beatty, his father, Thomas Beatty Sr. and an infant daughter, Kathleen Beatty. Throughout the years, Tom poured his heart into some very beloved animals, including Die Die, Midnight, Bushido, Mercedes, Jazz, Precious, Reggie, Lucky and Snowball, but Tom’s partner-in-crime, Floppy, will continue to keep his chair warm until he can rejoin his best friend on the Rainbow Bridge.
Relatives and friends of Thomas will be received Wednesday, June 10, 2026, from 9:30 a.m., until the time of funeral service at 11:30 a.m. in the Clement L. Pantalone Funeral Home, Inc., 409 W. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, PA 15601 724-837-0020.
Interment with Military Honors will follow in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville.
