Terry L. Wingert

October 16, 1947 — June 7, 2026

Greensburg

Terry L. Wingert, 78, of Greensburg, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at Westmoreland Hospital. He was born on October 16, 1947, in Greensburg, a son of the late Homer and Minnie (Hankins) Wingert. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Wingert.

Terry is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Sally (Bush) Wingert; his daughter, Melissa Lehman (Bob) of Greensburg; his son, Timothy Wingert (Sue) of Imperial; and his greatest joy, his three granddaughters — Macie Wingert, and Emily and Cora Lehman. He is also survived by his sisters, Carol Angel (Gerry) and Martha Bliss, along with many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

Terry was a man who never met a stranger and never hesitated to lend a hand. He spent his career as a salesman with Menasha Packaging Corporation, where his ability to connect with people wasn’t simply a work skill — it was who he was at his core.

Terry loved the outdoors and the adventures that come with it. Some of his happiest moments were spent at his camp at Jack Fish Lake, one of his favorite places on earth. He visited that lake over 90 times, creating countless memories with family and friends while fishing, sharing stories, playing cards and more.

He was an avid hunter who enjoyed both archery and rifle seasons and he was proud of the hunting trophies he collected. But his collection of shared experiences, life-long memories, and stories of his adventures he valued even more. In addition, Terry was someone who believed in giving back, so he often donated meat from his hunts and money to a variety of conservation organizations.

But Terry will be remembered for so much more than for his career or his hobbies. He worked hard, he played hard, but most of all, he loved hard. He lit up every room he ever occupied with his energy, abundant jokes, stories galore - plus more than the occasional wisecrack. Terry had a way of making every person he encountered feel comfortable, welcomed, and cared for.

Terry was also known for his dependability, being prepared for everything, and solving problems with ease. It was just who he was — ready to go, ready to help, and ready for whatever adventure was ahead.

Terry was a man of many endearing nicknames and someone who laughed easily, cried freely, loved deeply, and never hesitated to show the people around him how much they meant to him.

While short of stature, Terry was a giant in character, a titanic trip leader, and a legend in the hearts of his wife, his children, and every grandchild who climbed into his lap and felt like they were sitting on top of the world.

Terry set the standard for what it means to be a husband, a father, and a grandfather. His kindness, generosity, humor, and love touched countless lives. His family and friends will feel the emptiness left by his absence, and he will be missed more than words can express.

There will be no public viewing. A celebration of Terry’s life will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. at the Boulevard in Greensburg, PA.
