Sara J. McKelvey

Sara J. (Kress) McKelvey, 95, of Greensburg, died Monday, April 20, 2026, in St. Anne Home. She was born December 20, 1930, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late John and Ruth Bradshaw Kress.

Sara loved spending time with her grandchildren and was a voracious reader especially enjoying a good mystery. In her earlier years she enjoyed sewing, painting, and singing in the church choir.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Richard T. McKelvey; a sister, Dorothy Stauffer; and two brothers Robert and John Kress.

She is survived by her two children, Ruth M. Jakiela (Tim) of Murrysville and Thomas G. McKelvey (Lisa) of Currie, NC; seven grandchildren, Cody McKelvey, Chloe Jakiela, Max Jakiela, Emma Jakiela (Eli Wetzel), Jordan McKelvey, Lili Jakiela and John Jakiela; sister, Martha McCullough of Myrtle Beach, SC; and several nieces and nephews.

Inurnment will be in Homewood Cemetery, Pittsburgh.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh.

The family would like to thank the staff of Villa Angela at St. Anne Home for their kindness and loving care during their mother's stay there.
