Sadie Steward

Sadie Belle (Ross) Steward , 88, of Greensburg, died Sunday, February 18, 2018 in the Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital.  She was born September 29, 1929, in Greensburg, a daughter of the late John Ross and Essie Johnson.  Sadie was a member of the First Antioch Baptist Church where she served as Mother of the Church and also as a missionary.  She was a member of the NAACP and worked as a lunch room mother at GSHS.  She was also a Licensed Practical Nurse at Westmoreland Manor.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mack Finley Steward; a son, Edward Lee Williams; a daughter, Carolyn Johnson; and a brother, Arthur Johnson.  She is survived by her children, Finley Michael Steward, Sarah Elizabeth Steward, Michele Scharise Steward, Lynn Steward (Thomas Fullard), all of Greensburg, David Love of Hartford, CT, Florence Hamiel of Pittsburgh and Essie Johnson of Greensburg; fifteen grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  Viewing will be Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. in the First Antioch Baptist Church, 726 W.
