Rev. Robert R. Derry, 78, of Greensburg, died Thursday, July 24, 2025, at home. He was born November 07, 1946, in Pricedale, a son of the late George William Derry, Sr. and Ruby Mary Ross Derry.
In 1972, Bobby was one of the first kidney recipients in Pittsburgh, receiving the gift of life from his brother, George. Even though he had over fifty years of health issues, he had a deep-seated faith in the Lord and lived his life taking care of those in need. He fed the homeless in Pittsburgh, braving the elements to provide nourishment. He started several churches in western PA and started SafeHouse Ministeries in Jeannette to help the youth in the area.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eva L. Mossett Derry and his brother, George W. Derry, Jr.
He is survived by his five sons, Robert R. Derry, Jr. of Greensburg, James W. Derry (Dawn Shafer) of Jeannette, Keith Jones, Albert Derry (Diane) and Robert Fields, all of Greensburg; sixteen grandchildren, Candace, Kristen, Kaitlin, Robert R. III (Ashley) and Brandon Derry, James W. Jr. and Chanelle Derry, Alyssa Mesich, Isiah and Travion Derry, Keith Jr., Valencia and Deshwn Jones, Robert, Jr., Lauren and Kyeon Fields; a host of great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends of Rev. Derry will be received Wednesday, July 30, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in the Clement L. Pantalone Funeral Home, Inc., 409 W. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, PA 15601 724-837-0020. Minister Eugene Cooper will officiate.
Interment will follow in St. Clair Cemetery, Greensburg.
