Priscilla Brandt

Priscilla Isabella Purdy Brandt , 107, of Greensburg, was born in Braddock, PA, on April 25, 1908 and died on Monday, April 4, 2016 in Greensburg, PA.  Daughter of the late Frederick William Purdy and Bertha Steimer Purdy, wife of the late Lawrence E. Brandt, Sr. (1952) and loving mother of Mrs. Marilyn J. Love (Isaac), of Cypress, California; of the Most Reverend Lawrence E. Brandt, JCD, PhD, Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Greensburg; and Dr. Dolores E. Fusco (William) of Long Island, New York.  She was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.  She is likewise survived by two grandsons, Dr. Barry Love (Leslie) and by Larry Love (Lauren) and great grandsons and great granddaughters Kelly and Kyle Love and Isaac and Alexandra Love.  For many years Priscilla and her late husband Lawrence lived in Lake City outside of Erie, PA, and were members of Saint John the Evangelist Parish in Girard.  Musically gifted and with the ability to play the piano by ear, Priscilla studied piano with Prof.  Georg Dietz of Leipzig, Germany and pursued studies in voice at Cypress College, Cypress, CA.  Throughout her life she volunteered at facilities for the aged in Girard at Pleasant Ridge Manor, Ball Pavilion, Erie and Saint Mary’s Home East, Erie.  She was the secretary to the principal of Mercyhurst Preparatory High School in Erie when the new school building opened in 1963 and until she retired in 1975.  In adversity Priscilla was a valiant woman who placed her trust in the Lord.  The family wishes to thank the Felician Sisters and staff at Saint Anne Home for their compassionate care and generous service throughout Priscilla’s last years.

Family and friends will be received at the Clement L. Pantalone Funeral Home, Inc., 409 W. Pittsburgh Street, Greensburg, PA (724-837-0020) on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 9 p.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Bishop Emeritus Lawrence E. Brandt of Greensburg at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. Please go directly to the Cathedral.  Interment will follow at Saint John the Evangelist Parish Cemetery in Girard, PA.  In lieu of flowers or a memorial contribution, please arrange for Masses to be offered for the repose of her soul at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, 300 North Main Street, Greensburg, PA (724-834-3710 www.blessedsacramentcathedral.org).  Those who wish may share their memories and photos, offer their condolences or access directions at www.pantalone.com.
