Phyllis Marie Marks (née Parise), of Monroe Township, NJ, formerly of Greensburg, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2025, at her home.
She was 80 years old. Born in Greenburg, PA, to Daniel and Mary (née Panetti) Parise, she resided in multiple places around the United States due to the Military assignments of her husband Robert Marks, before settling down in Monroe Township, NJ 30 years ago. Prior to retiring in 2015, she was a third-grade schoolteacher for Immaculate Conception School in Spotswood where she worked for 40 years. Phyllis was a part of the first graduating class of Greensburg Central High School. She was the Captain Majorette and the graduating class Homecoming Queen. She was part of the Third Order Carmelites. She was a faithful member of the religious group CMD, Communitas Mater Domini, Word of God, and belonged to a charismatic prayer group for many years. In her spare time, she enjoyed, spending time with her family, cooking Italian meals especially homemade pizza, and making Christmas cookies with her children and grandchildren. She faithfully gathered with friends and prayer warriors to pray the Rosary and The Divine Mercy Chaplet. Her greatest desire was to spread and share God’s word through the love and life of Jesus, Mary our Blessed Mother and St Joseph Her Most Chaste Spouse. Her obedience and Love for God was a shining example of her devotion and dedication to her Faith and Family. She has loved, encouraged, listened and touched the lives and hearts of all her family and friends. She expressed that she wishes that everyone knew how Great is Our Lord and abundant is His Mercy and Grace, and that His love and understanding is infinite. Truly she believed that with God all things are possible, and to lean not on our own understanding but with great courage, Trust in God with all our hearts and souls. Her favorite song was, “Our God is an Awesome God, He reigns from Heaven and Earth!” The presence of God radiated in and through her life, she was a beacon and light to her family and to so many dear and cherished friends.She will be missed tremendously and carried in Our Hearts Forever.
Surviving are her husband of 57 years, Robert D. Marks of Monroe Township; her sons, Robert V. Marks and his wife, Carol, of Long Beach, NY, Paul Marks and his wife, Brenda, of Union Beach, NJ, and her grandchildren Daniel, Billy, and Paul. Anthony Marks of Monroe Township, NJ; her daughters, Michelle Marks of Cape Cod, MA, her grandchildren Carmen and Valentino Major. Amy Marks Belmonte of Monroe Township, NJ, her grandchildren Nicholas, Zachary, Paris and Layne. Her brother, Nick Parise and his wife, Linda, of New Stanton, PA; her sister-in-law Barbara Hurd and her late husband, Terry, of Greensburg, PA; and her niece, Danielle Hurd Ross and husband, Nick of Bozeman,Montana; Her nephew David Parise of Greensburg and wife Jill and great nieces Paige, Mia and great Nephew Luke. Her nephew Daniel Parise of New Stanton and niece Deanna Parise Nestor of Wheeling, WV and her husband Scott and her great nephews, Nicholas, Christian, and Austin.
Relatives and friends of Phyllis will be received Wednesday from 11 a.m., until the time of funeral service at 1 p.m. in the Clement L. Pantalone Funeral Home, Inc. 409 W. Pittsburgh Street, Greensburg, PA 15601, (724) 837-0020.
Interment will follow in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery.
