Paul Butchko , 79, of Greensburg, died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2017, in the Allegheny General Hospital. He was born Oct. 8, 1938, in Johnstown, a son of the late George and Mary Havrilak Butchko. Paul was a retired draftsman for the Elliott Company, Jeannette. He was a very active and faithful parishioner of St. Bartholomew Church. He served as an extraordinary minister, helping with funerals and Masses. He also sang in the choir. He was in charge of the annual 5k race during the Lady of Mt. Carmel Festival and worked the bingos that were held at Marion Hall. Paul was a Third Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus Council 940 and was a member of the American Legion Post 0344. During the Invasion of the Bay of Pigs, he served the Navy aboard the USS Galveston. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven siblings, Anna Chinchar, George Butchko, Mary Wilkerson, Michael, Margaret, George S. and Elizabeth Butchko. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Victoria A. Biondo Butchko; three children, Michelene Sheppard (Brian), of Bridgeport, W.Va., Maryann Riding (Christopher), of Baden, and George Butchko (Chad Zottoli), of Seattle, Wash.; 10 grandchildren, Hunter and Parker Sheppard, Gunnar, Ana and Griffin Bearley, Duncan and Clayton Riding and Trent, Jake and Emilia Zottoli; eight siblings, Helen Royer, of Ashburn, Va., Joseph Butchko, of Monroeville, Pauline Rogers, of Ashburn, Va., John Butchko (Jean), of Columbus, Ohio, Eleanor Borzcik (Tony), of Lucerne Mines, Justine Rusinko (Paul), of Yonkers, N.Y., Juliana Mills (Dick), of West Jefferson, Ohio, and Stephen Butchko, of Olympia, Wash.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Paul from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in the CLEMENT L. PANTALONE FUNERAL HOME INC., 409 W. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, PA 15601, 724-837-0020. Parting prayers will be held at 9:15 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home followed by a funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in the St. Bartholomew Church, Crabtree, with Father Justin Matro, OSB, celebrating. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Jennerstown. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Bartholomew Church, PO Box A, Crabtree, PA 15624. The Knights of Columbus Council 940 will hold services at 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.  Paul's family has entrusted his care to the Pantalone Funeral Home Inc., Greensburg.
