Patricia Ann Kettering, 91, of Greensburg, peacefully passed away surrounded by family on Tuesday, April 21, 2026. Patricia was born on September 27, 1934, in Turtle Creek, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Conroy Stadterman. Patricia was a proud graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Shadyside and went on to earn her Diploma in Nursing from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, beginning a lifelong dedication to caring for others.
She later married her beloved husband, Dr. Donald Kettering, and together they shared 65 wonderful years of marriage, raising four children and building a life centered on love, faith, and family.
Patricia was a woman of deep faith and generosity; she was a devoted parishioner of the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, and her compassionate spirit was reflected in her remarkable 2,500 hours of volunteer service at Westmoreland Regional Hospital. She was also actively involved in the Westmoreland Hospital Auxiliary, Unit 5 and was a member of the Westmoreland County Medical Alliance.
Patricia was known for her warm sense of humor and thoughtful, witty remarks, which brought laughter to family and friends. She found joy in life’s simple yet meaningful moments – baking her famous pumpkin bread and cheesecake, enjoying games of bridge with dear friends, and, above all, spending treasured time with family. Patricia especially cherished annual family vacations to Hilton Head and Labor Day Picnics.
Her greatest pride and joy were her loved ones. Patricia leaves behind a beautiful legacy through her 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense happiness to her life. She will be remembered for her kindness, grace, and unwavering devotion to family, and the warmth she shared with everyone who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dr. Donald Kettering; her son, Dr. Joseph Kettering; her brothers, Joseph, Thomas and Torrence Stadterman and her sister, Mary Flagerman.
Patricia is survived by her three children, Donald Kettering, Jr. (Lucie) of Chicago, IL; Mary Pat Sullivan (Daniel) of Moon Twp.; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Marsh Kettering of Greensburg; and James Kettering (Michele) of Silver Spring, MD; ten grandchildren, Donald Kettering, III, Meghan Shirley (Matthew), Jaclyn Sohizad (Babak), Jessica Ciserella (Matthew), Kathryn Girgensons (Zemgus), Caroline Kettering, Louis Kettering, Nicholas Kettering, William Kettering and Margaret Kettering; ten great grandchildren, Piper, Madelyn and Paige Shirley, Skylar and Brooklyn Sohizad, Robert and Benjamin Ciserella and Hadlee, Lucas and Kinsley Girgensons; a brother-in-law, David Kettering (Mary Ann) of Murrysville, and sister-in-law, Maxine Stadterman of Level Green, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
