Nancy Hope (Lucas) Best , 79, of Greensburg, died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2022. She was born Nov. 15, 1942, in New Castle, a daughter of the late Theodore G. and Della L. Songer Lucas. Nancy was a member of the Free Methodist Church and involved with their Women's MInistry and Operation Christmas Child. She had a love for all animals, but especially her cats. Prior to working for Mears, Smith, Houser and Boyle Law Office as a secretary, Nancy worked in sales as a manager of the drapery department at Penn Furniture in Latrobe, O'Furniture in Greensburg and also worked for Troutmans in Latrobe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Patricia Priestly and Joyce Sprung. She is survived by her loving husband, Forrest "Jack" Best; two children, Joseph R. Morton Jr. (Terry), of Stahlstown and Hope M. Zulisky, of Latrobe; a stepson, Jesse B. Best (Cindy), of Derry; four grandchildren, April Moore (Greg), Amanda Aukerman (Sean), John Adam and Nicholas J. McIntyre; two great-grandchildren, Samantha Aukerman and Raven Moore; two siblings, Margaret Hegan (Gary), of Latrobe and Robert Lucas, of N.J.; 21 nieces and nephews; and a number of great-nieces and nephews. There will be no public services at this time. Nancy's family has entrusted her care to the CLEMENT L. PANTALONE FUNERAL HOME INC., 409 W. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, PA 15601. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to National Kidney Foundation or Animal Friends of Westmoreland.
