Mary Chabino

November 30, 1923 — March 31, 2018

Mary A. (Malletz) Chabino , 94, passed away peacefully at her home in Harrisburg. Mary was born Nov. 30, 1923, in Hannastown, the daughter of the late Frank and Anna Malletz. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Frank G. Chabino, Army staff sergeant, World War II; four brothers, Andrew, Joseph, Frank and Stanley Malletz; and three sisters, Alice Yantos, Louise Zsolcsak and Stella Bellish. She is survived by her son, Jerry Chabino and his wife, Bobbie, of Nokomis, Fla.; granddaughter Carolyn (Chabino) Felice and her husband, Thomas, of Harrisburg; grandson, Michael Megrey and his wife, Megan, of Glenshaw; great-granddaughter, Lindsay Felice, of Harrisburg; daughter-in-law, Catherine (Franczyk) Megrey and her husband, Gerard, of Greensburg; numerous beloved nieces and nephews; as well as her faithful granddogs, Riddle and Charlie. Mary worked as a supervisor at Westland Manufacturing where she was regarded as a laudable employee always standing up for the rights of her workers. Mary was a longtime resident of Greensburg and Winter Haven, Fla., where she was a volunteer at Meals on Wheels and the Westmoreland and Winter Haven hospital auxiliaries. After the passing of her husband, Frank, in 2006, Mary came to live with her granddaughter, Carolyn, and family in Harrisburg. She enjoyed sitting outside on the deck with her dogs and attending numerous functions at her church and great-granddaughter Lindsay's school, St. Catherine Laboure. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Mary from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at CLEMENT L. PANTALONE FUNERAL HOME INC., 409 W. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, PA 15601, 724-837-0020. Parting prayers will be held in the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Monday followed by a funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Church. Officiating will be dear family friend Father Daniel L. Blout. Interment will follow in St. Clair Cemetery, Greensburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Westmoreland County Humane Society, P.O. Box 1552, Greensburg, PA 15601.
