Mary Ann Vernon, 91, of Greensburg, died Friday, May 08, 2026, at home. She was born July 01, 1934, in Greensburg, a daughter of the late Michael and Matilda Lisac Lofecheck.
Mary Ann was raised in Hannastown and graduated from Greensburg Salem High School in 1952. She began her career at Troutman's Department Store in Greensburg and later worked as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone. Above all, Mary Ann found her greatest happiness in raising her children and being a loving and devoted mother and wife. She was a faithful member of Blessed Sacrament Cathedral and had a deep appreciation for flowers and plants, especially enjoying gardening. Mary Ann was also well known for her talents in the kitchen, where her cooking and baking brought joy to family and friends alike.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles B. Vernon Jr., her sister Elizabeth Louise 'Betty' Ungvarsky, and an infant son, Mark.
She is survived by her two sons, Michael and Thomas Vernon; her nephew, Vincent (Belinda) Ungvarsky and their sons, Paul and Neil; her niece and goddaughter, Kathleen (Anthony) Ungvarsky Solak and her children, Ryan, Chris, and Rachel; and her nephew, Ronald Ungvarsky and his children, Travis and Colin.
Relatives and friends of Mary Ann will be received Tuesday, May 12, 2026 from 11:30 a.m. until the time of prayers of transfer at 12:30 p.m. in the Clement L. Pantalone Funeral Home, Inc. 409 W. Pittsburgh Street, Greensburg, PA 15601, (724) 837-0020, followed by a funeral Mass to be celebrated at 1 p.m. in the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, Greensburg.
Interment will follow in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Blessed Sacrament Cathedral or St. Jude Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
