Marie Marscelli

Marie S. Petrilli Marscelli , of Greensburg, passed away  Thursday, Aug. 17, 2017, at home. Marie was born June 2, 1924, in Luxor. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Pasqualina (Donofrio) Petrilli. She was the wife of the late Frank J. "Frenchie" Marscelli, a prominent barber in Greensburg. She attended Greensburg Salem High School and graduated from Indiana State Teacher's College, Class of 1946. Her 33-year elementary teaching career included Hannastown, Grapeville, Maxwell, and East Hempfield elementary schools. Marie was a member of Our Lady of Grace Church, their Rosary Altar Society and Youthful Seniors. She also taught CCD classes. Marie belonged to the Westmoreland County Retired Teachers Association, The National Retired Teachers, The Greensburg College Club, and The Teacher's SAG and Sorority group. Marie was a member of the Greensburg Civic Theatre for over 50 years. She was a member of the Virginia Boyer Class and belonged to PASR and PSERS. Marie also volunteered her time at HIS of Greensburg. She is survived by her son, Frank J. Marscelli; daughter-in-law, Eileen Marscelli; her grandstepson, Stephen Gleisner; nieces, Sue Donofrio and Rose Mack; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. She is also survived by her close friend and caregiver, Linda Van Doren, her husband, Michael, and her daughter, Nick (Bubba) Geiger. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Marie from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday in the CLEMENT L. PANTALONE FUNERAL HOME INC., 409 W. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, PA 15601, (724) 837-0020. Parting prayers will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home, followed at 10 a.m. by a funeral Mass to be celebrated in Our Lady of Grace Church, with Father Ryan Ravis celebrating. Interment will follow in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Grace Church, 1001 Mt. Pleasant Road, Greensburg, PA 15601.
