Louis M. Zecchini, 87, of Greensburg, died Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at home. He was born October 22, 1938, in Greensburg, a son of the late Manuel and Mary Nigro Zecchini.
Lou graduated from St. Vincent College with a Bachelor's degree in Music Education and then received his Master’s degree and Principal's Certification through the University of Pittsburgh. He spent his entire forty-one-year career working for the Greensburg Salem School District. His first ten years were as an elementary music teacher. He then moved into the position of elementary principal for another decade, but he spent more than half of his career as the Director of Elementary Education, Head of Buildings and Grounds and served as board secretary. Lou also was the co-owner of Professional Music in Greensburg for thirty years. He was an extremely talented musician, primarily playing piano, bass and accordion. For over sixty years Lou played piano for his own trios and quartets. He also played piano and bass for various other bands across western PA. He was a member of St. Bruno Church and at one time served on Parish Council. He recently celebrated fifty years as a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America. He was especially proud of his Model A Ford that he drove to and from St. Vincent College every day while getting his degree. After retirement, Lou joined the staff of the Pantalone Funeral Home, Inc. in 2003. He worked many viewings and funerals over the years and because of his work in the Greensburg School District, he knew many of the visitors and families that came through the doors. He was well known for his attention to detail and his professional way of doing things.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen L. Farrell Zecchini on March 6, 1998.
Lou is survived by his fiance, Patty Surovy and daughter, Maxine Zecchini of Greensburg.
