Kathryn L. Colonna

Kathryn “Kathie” L. Colonna (76) of Greensburg, PA passed away October 1, 2026, at St. Anne’s nursing home after a long battle with Dementia. Born November 21, 1949, in Mt. Pleasant, PA,

Kathryn was a graduate of Geibel Catholic High School (class of ‘67) where she then continued her education at the University of Pittsburgh (class of ‘71). Kathryn was a beloved and active member of Blessed Sacrament Cathedral in Greensburg, where she served as Eucharistic Minister and volunteer for many years.

Kathryn was often described as “joyous” by many of her close friends and colleagues and always shed a light around others with her outgoing, spunky and heartwarming personality. She was an avid and devoted Pitt Football, Basketball and Pittsburgh Pirates fan, where she attended weekend home games with her husband, Alan. Kathryn also enjoyed spending time outside, where she spent many hours tending to her gardens and going on walks around the neighborhood.

Kathryn is proceeded in death by her parents Joseph and Elizabeth (Kurpiel) Smithula and loving baby brother Frank Smithula.

She is survived by her dedicated husband of 48 years, Alan Colonna; children Amie (Colonna) Gillingham, Nina (Colonna) and husband Kunta Fossett, Nicholas and wife Erika Colonna and Carly Colonna; and grandchildren Cyrus, Quentin, Joel, L, Raelynn, Kinsley and Kacie.

Relatives and friends of Kathie will be received Sunday from 2 to 6 PM in the Clement L. Pantalone Funeral Home, Inc. 409 W. Pittsburgh Street, Greensburg, PA 15601, (724) 837-0020.

Prayers of transfer will be said in the funeral home Monday at 9 AM, followed by a funeral Mass to be celebrated at 9:30 AM, Monday, October 05, 2026, in the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral.

Interment will follow in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff of St. Anne Home and Independence Hospice for their kindness and compassion during Kathie's illness. It was greatly appreciated.
