Joan M. Myers, 76, of Greensburg, PA, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2026, surrounded by her family. Joan was born on November 28, 1949, in St. Mary’s, PA to Guido and Mary (Wurm) Facchine.
A Class of 1967 graduate of Elk County Catholic High School, Joan graduated from Seton Hill College before earning her Master’s degree in education from the University of Pittsburgh. A lifelong teacher, Joan taught at Cathedral Elementary (Aquinas Academy) before spending 30 years teaching at Maxwell Elementary. Joan loved decorating her classroom and dreaming up arts and crafts projects to complete with both her students and grandchildren.
For 51 years, Joan shared a loving marriage with her soulmate and best friend, Martin Myers. Joan and Marty loved visiting their grandkids, spending time with friends, and enjoying a glass of wine on their deck.
Joan was a faithful member of Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, and her Catholic faith was an important part of her life. She treasured time with family and friends, especially when it meant cooking a special meal and bringing everyone together for the holidays. Her now-famous “coconut dessert” will live on through recipes shared with everyone who loved it.
Being “Grammy” and “Mimi” was one of her greatest treasures, and her beloved grandchildren brought her endless joy.
She is survived by her husband, Martin Myers; her sons, Chad Myers and his wife, Jaime, of Mantua, NJ, and their children, Sam and Charlie; Josh Myers and his wife, Beth, of Avon, OH, and their children, Emma and Joshua; her sister-in-law, Paulette Myers of St. Mary’s, PA; her beloved aunt, Mae Merley; and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Frank Spowart; and her only sister, Gail Forbes, and her husband, Tom.
A special thank you to Joan and Marty’s close friends and neighbors, and to their “special angels,” for their love and support over the years.
Relatives and friends of Joan will be received Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Clement L. Pantalone Funeral Home, Inc. 409 W. Pittsburgh Street, Greensburg, PA 15601, (724) 837-0020.
