Jeffrey David Smail, 59, passed away peacefully on the evening of October 24th surrounded by his devoted wife, children and loved ones. Jeff was a beloved husband, father, grandfather (Pappy), brother, son and businessman, who served the community of Greensburg, PA for more than 30 years as the co-owner of the Smail Auto Group. He was known for his integrity and work ethic, often recognized for his commitment to going above and beyond for those around him. Jeff never had a moment without a smile on his face or a twinkle in his eye. Jeffrey is survived by his wife Loni, his two children Jeffrey (Amanda) and Ally (Christian) Trueax, his grandchildren Islabella and Carter, his mother Ellen Smail, his sister Kathryn Johnson (Ronald), a sister-in-law, Kelly Smail, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Clarence (Bud) Smail Jr., his brother Mark Smail, and his beloved pup Hazel. Jeffrey graduated from Hempfield Area High School in 1983, where he spent most of his time with his friends or on the wrestling mat. He went on to attend Northwood University, in Midland, Michigan, where he obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Automotive Marketing. After graduating in June 1987, Jeff returned to Greensburg, PA to join the family business and continue his father and grandfather’s legacy within the Smail Auto Group. He learned the automotive industry intimately “from the ground up” over his 30 years of experience working alongside his family. Jeff and Loni lived life to the fullest, traveling the world together and supporting their children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews in all their endeavors. He loved spending time with family and friends, most often with a drink in his hand playing his favorite songs on repeat. Jeff spent his summers in Muskoka, Canada, where his family has been enjoying the lake since the early 1900s. There, he enjoyed all water activities including boating, swimming, and water-skiing. He was an excellent water-skier and even performed in the local ski show as a child. During the winters, he would travel with his family to the Florida Keys, where he continued much of the same, spending as many hours as possible on the boat. The friends he made along the way have all become family and were a treasured source of happiness for Jeff. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Jeffrey, Monday from 5 to 8 p.m., and Tuesday from 2 to 4:30 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Clement L. Pantalone Funeral Home, Inc. 409 W.
