J. Vincent Rizzo

J. Vincent Rizzo, 91, of Greensburg, died September 15, 2025. He was born July 26, 1934, a son of the late Vincenzo and Barbara (Vigorito) Rizzo. He was an honors graduate of Latrobe High School and graduated Cum Laude from Wabash College, in Crawfordsville, Indiana. During a 35-year career with Consolidated Natural Gas Company, he served in a number of managerial positions, including Assistant V.P. and Assistant Treasurer. He was a member of Holy Family Parish in Latrobe, PA followed by the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, in Greensburg, PA.

In addition to his parents, Vince was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Dorazio, his sister Phyllis Rizzo, half-brothers, Nicholas and Michael Rizzo, half-sisters Katherine Chenet and Marie Panichelle. He is survived by his three children, James V. Rizzo Jr., and his wife, Lynne (Thomas), of Greensburg; Beth A. Kemerer, and her husband, Ray, of Murrysville; and Pamela L. Livolsi and her husband, Tim, of Greensburg, nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Vince was married to Mary Ann for 60 years and she was the love of his life. He always said, if he couldn’t marry her, he wasn’t getting married, and he waited 10 years for her hand. Together they were blessed to travel to Europe several times, including Italy, Greece and Scotland, after Vince’s retirement. An avid fly fisherman, Vince fished for trout until the age of 86, when his legs just couldn’t wade the streams any longer. His love for hunting led him on numerous hunting trips, including Alaska and British Columbia for bear hunts, Colorado for elk hunts and Texas for white tail deer. Despite deteriorating health in the last few years, his love for the outdoors never waned, and he found ways to get to the woods, just to sit and observe in silence. He was a lifetime member of the Youngwood Sportsmen’s Association, spending many hours trying to put three shots in the same hole.

Vince was a principled man, if there ever was one. His character and discipline is something that he downplayed but manifested through numerous athletic, academic and professional awards, throughout his lifetime, as well as through the many friendships that he nurtured, spanning decades.

A Requiem High Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m., Friday, September 19, 2025 in the Most Precious Blood of Jesus Parish, 3250 California Ave, Pittsburgh, PA, with Rev. Cannon William Avis, celebrating. Everyone please go directly to the Church.

Interment will follow in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery.
