Herschel A. Benjamin, 87, of South Greensburg, died Saturday, August 30, 2025, in the Mercy Hospital. He was born October 01, 1937, in Braddock, a son of the late Joseph and Ethel Bosmay Benjamin.
He was a retired drafting supervisor for the Elliott Company in Jeannette. “Hersch” was a member of St. Bruno Church in South Greensburg and the former president of the South Greensburg Council. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing, and watching sports. He was an avid Pirates fan. His greatest joy was the time he spent with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death the love of his life, Joan A. McDonough Benjamin; and his infant daughter, Karla Marie Benjamin.
He is survived by his children, Brian Benjamin (Jane) of Trent and Lynn Lawrence (Kurt) of Greensburg; five grandchildren, Caitlin Ulicny (Michael), Christina Maroadi (Anthony), Katie 'Benjamin' Cole (Matthew), Nicholas Benjamin (fiancé Jess Fichner) and Connor Lawrence; three great grandchildren, Michael and Capri Ulicny and Leo Maroadi; sister, Anona Benjamin Kuhel (Robert) of South Greensburg; in laws, Donna Guskiewicz of Greensburg, Cathy Burlaga (Leonard), Maureen Stansell (Don) all of MD, Dennis McDonough (Patricia) of Latrobe and Diane McDonough of VA and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be no public viewing. Relatives and friends of Herschel are invited to attend his funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 05, 2025, in the St. Bruno Church.
Entombment will follow in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum.
