Greensburg

George W. Stiebinger, 81, of Greensburg, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 27, 2025, at Greene Health and Rehab Center. Born May 26, 1944, in Irvington, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Edward Oscar and Olive Estell Stiebinger.

George was a proud American who deeply loved his country. He served honorably in the United States Navy during the Cold War era, completing four years of service from November 1962 to October 1964. He trained in Interior Communications and served aboard the USS Dahlgren as an Interior Communications Electrician, maintaining vital communications and control systems at sea and abroad for over two and a half years. His time in the Navy was a source of lifelong pride, and he remained a steadfast supporter of the military and the values it represents.

After his service, George dedicated 30 years to Lenox China.

One of the greatest joys of George’s life was his marriage to Sally D. Tanner Stiebinger, whom he wed in 2006. Sally was not only his wife but his best friend. Their love was marked by devotion and shared experiences. Together, they enjoyed visiting family, taking trips to the casino, and caring for their pets, which brought them both immense happiness. Their shared compassion for animals was a defining part of their life together, and they were proud supporters of the ASPCA. George’s unwavering dedication to Sally continued throughout their years together until her passing in 2022, and their bond remains a cherished part of his story.

George was preceded in death by his wife, Sally; his stepson, Todd Lathrop; and his brother, Edward M. Stiebinger. He is survived by his two stepsons, Lawrence Lathrop (Lyn) and Cameron Lathrop (Karen); his brother Ronald R. Stiebinger of New Jersey; and a niece, Barbara Beck (Edward). He will be remembered for his patriotism, his love for family, and his gentle heart toward animals.

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no public services. Inurnment will take place at Honey Bee Cemetery in Smethport, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the ASPCA or a veterans’ organization of your choice.
