Emily Sokol

Emily Jean (Thompson) Sokol, 82, of Tarrs, died Wednesday, December 21, 2022 in Excela Health Frick Hospital.  She was born October 10, 1940, in Smithton, a daughter of the late George and Emily Hileman Sokol. Emily Jean was a retired nurses aid for Westmoreland Manor and also did private duty.  She was also a former employee of the Scottdale Casket Company. She loved her dog Goldie and her cats. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Judy Thompson; and her sister, Dorothy Toth. She is survived by six children, Emily Oblak (Joel) of Ruffsdale, Joyce Thompson of Scottdale, Tony Thompson (Denise) of Smithton, Michael Thompson (Christine Stull) of Yukon, Greg Thompson (Sherry) of Scottdale and Theresa Hempfield (Vaughn) of Mt. Pleasant; 15 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; a brother, William Sokol (Jan) of Turkey Town; two sisters, Barb Redenbaugh of Arona and Linda Mayor (Dennis) of West Mifflin and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Emily Jean, Tuesday, December 27, 2022 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Clement L. Pantalone Funeral Home, Inc. 409 W. Pittsburgh Street, Greensburg, PA 15601, (724) 837-0020. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday in the Pantalone Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Thoma, officiating. Interment will follow in Alverton Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff of the ICU at Excela Health Frick Hospital for their compassionate care during their stay.
