Dr. Dorothy Young

Dr. Dorothy M. (Wagner) Young , 81, of Greensburg, passed away Saturday, May 7, 2016, at home, after a courageous 11 month battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born Oct. 22, 1934, in Glendale, a daughter of the late Fred and Leona Garlett Wagner. Dorothy was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church and their Rosary Altar Society. Prior to working in administration at the Westmoreland Intermediate Unit, she taught in Germany and several Pittsburgh area schools. She was an active member of ALANON for more than 20 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald K. Young. She is survived by her three children, Susan E. Geraghty, Jon C. Young and Natalie Wass and Patti Lee Young; four grandchildren, Justin and Alison Calhoun, Ansley Young and Travis Forrai and Emily Ann Young; a great-granddaughter, Lillian Grace Forrai; her brother, Fred "Buddy" Wagner and wife, Verna; her sister, Mary Jane "Margie" Spalla; several nieces and nephews; and her "grandpup", Gracie. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Dorothy from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the CLEMENT L. PANTALONE FUNERAL HOME INC., 409 W. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, PA 15601, 724-837-0020. Parting prayers will be held at 9:15 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home, followed by a funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in the St. Bartholomew Church with Father Justin Matro, OSB, celebrating. Interment will follow in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Bartholomew Church, 2538 Route 119,Crabtree, PA  15624. The family would like to thank St. Anne Home and Excela Health Hospice for their loving and compassionate care over these last months of their mother's illness.
