Donald Rach

Donald G. Rach , 87, of Greensburg, formerly of Uniontown, died Friday, Nov. 3, 2017, in Walnut Ridge Memory Care. He was born May 9, 1930, in Lemont Furnance, a son of the late Paul Rach and Rachel Crowley Rach Anne. Don was a retired truck driver for the former Fike's Dairy (now United) of Uniontown. He was a member of St. Bruno Church and the former VFW of Uniontown, and also served in the Navy during the Korean conflict. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond Rach and Paul Rach Jr.; and two sisters, Rosemary Reed and Betty Dayoob. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 48 years, Virginia "Ginny" Maher Rach; five children, Lori Altavilla (Ralph), of North Carolina, Joyce Pfeiffer (Bill), of Pittsburgh, Amy McCormick (Lee), of St. Louis, Mo., Jennifer Zilli, of North Huntingdon, and Donald Rach Jr. (Brandi), of South Carolina; two stepchildren, David Giachetti (Mary), of Virginia, and Lisa Thomas (Chris), of Greensburg; ten grandchildren; one great-grandson; two brothers, Richard Rach (Mary Kay), of Pittsburgh, and David Rach (Marilyn), of Georgia; a sister, Joan Hawes, of Indiana; and several nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Donald from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in the CLEMENT L. PANTALONE FUNERAL HOME INC., 409 W. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, PA 15601, (724) 837-0020. Parting prayers will be held at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home, followed at 10 a.m. by a funeral Mass to be celebrated at St. Bruno Church, South Greensburg. Interment will follow in St. Clair Cemetery, Greensburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 1100 Liberty Ave., Suite E201, Pittsburgh, PA 15222. The family would like to thank Walnut Ridge Memory Care and the Redstone @ Home Hospice for their kind and compassionate care.
