Dominic “Dom” Ciarimboli passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026, in West Palm Beach, Florida at the age of 95 surrounded by his family. He lived a life defined by faith, compassion, kindness, deep devotion to family, and distinguished professional achievement.
Born in 1930 and raised in South Greensburg, Pennsylvania, Dom was the son of Onorata “Nora” Paluzzi, from Supino, Italy, and Giuseppe "Joseph" Ciarimboli, from Iesi, Italy. Growing up in a large, close-knit Italian family shaped the values that guided him throughout his life. A natural storyteller, Dom often reflected on formative experiences. As a young boy, he was hit by a car while playing ball with his brothers; later joking that there were only three cars in town and he managed to get hit by one. While recovering, his parents purchased a clarinet that sparked a life-long love of music. He excelled at both clarinet and saxophone, and later played in a jazz band throughout his teenage years. His dream of becoming a professional musician was interrupted when he developed tuberculosis and spent a year at the Cresson sanitorium. That experience ultimately changed his life, providing access to a scholarship that allowed him to become the first in his family to attend college. Dom graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1955, with a degree in accounting. He became a Certified Public Accountant in 1958, and then earned his Juris Doctor degree from Duquesne University Law School in 1961. He served as Assistant District Attorney in Westmoreland County, before establishing a highly successful law practice in Greensburg.
Dom and Jane married in 1968. He often said his greatest pride was the life that they built together with their four daughters. Annual Christmas parties, summer vacations at the beach, homemade pasta on Sundays, and cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers were staples of their family life. He loved visits to Italy, often accompanied by Jane and the girls. He developed and nurtured lasting connections with Italian friends and family, including close relationships with members of the Vatican clergy. Early in his career, he maintained a law practice in Rome representing expatriates. He often expressed that he felt at home in Italy and it has long been evident that a part of his heart will forever be rooted there.
Later, Dom expanded his law practice to Florida, specializing in tax and estate-planning, and continued working until his final weeks. He and Jane became full-time residents of West Palm Beach where he was an active and beloved member of the Ibis community. Dom was a proud grandfather -“Nonno”- to eight grandchildren. He loved traveling around the country to spend time with them, delighted in their visits to Florida, and took great joy in following their lives and celebrating their accomplishments.
Dominic is survived by Jane, his wife of 58 years; his daughters: Dina Ciarimboli (Ken Gordon), Betsy Shadid (Derek Shadid), Jill Wynne (Garrett Wynne), and Kathy Ciarimboli (Will Bunten) and eight grandchildren: Olivia and Harry Gordon, Cole and Stella Shadid, Luca and Thomas Wynne, and Eliza and Phoebe Bunten; by his sister Mary Heim, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother Onorata ("Nora"), his father Giuseppe ("Joseph"), and brothers Joseph (“Josie”), Alfred (“Fredo”), John (“Johnny”), Alex, James (“Jimmy”), William (“Googs”), Frank (“Frankie”).
While Dom’s professional accomplishments were many, he will be most remembered for his kindness, humility, and gentle character. He had a natural ability to connect with people and to make those around him feel seen, valued and at ease. A devout Catholic, his faith guided every aspect of his life. He lived with gratitude, generosity, and love and had no regrets. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, January 31, 2026, in the St. Vincent Basilica. The family will be receiving relatives and friends at the Basilica from 12:15 p.m. until the time of service.
Entombment will follow in Mary, Mother of Mercy Mausoleum at St. Vincent.
