Charles Alfred Welsch, 49, of Latrobe, was called home to his Lord and Savior, Saturday, October 11, 2025, at UPMC Shadyside, Pittsburgh. He was born September 07, 1976, in Greensburg, a son of the late Charles Andrew Welsch, II and Diane DePrimio Welsch.
Charlie, even though battling long term health issues, always put his service to the community first and foremost. In addition to his job as a Sergeant for the University of Pittsburgh Police Department in Oakland, he also served as a police officer in Ligonier for sixteen years on a part-time basis, the Deputy Chief of the Irwin EMS, President of SMRT in Blairsville and was a CPR instructor to many area organizations. He was Catholic by faith and loved to travel with wife, especially to the beach. He was considered an avid unsuccessful hunter by his family and friends. Charlie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Pamela Blough Gindlesperger; and his dog, Dexter and cat, Noel, whom he loved dearly.
He is survived by his loving and devoted partner for over a decade and wife of almost four years, Sharon R. Gindlesperger Welsch; brother, David Welsch (Jennifer) of Eagle, ID; parent in laws, Ralph and Denise Gindlesperger of Jennerstown; in-laws, Shalyn Gindlesperger (Danielle) and their children, Nora and Isaiah of Zelienople; Christa Curtis (Brian) and their children, Abigail and Wynn of Johnstown and Zebulon Holliday (Katie) and their children, Peyton, Carson and Jackson of Bradenton, FL; his canine 'kids', Bear, Quinn and Kimber and his feline 'child' Luna; and a host of friends and co-workers.
Relatives and friends of Charlie will be received Wednesday, October 15, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m and 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m in the Clement L. Pantalone Funeral Home, Inc. 409 W. Pittsburgh Street, Greensburg, PA 15601, (724) 837-0020.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 16, 2025, in the St. Vincent Basilica, Latrobe. Everyone please go directly to the Basilica.
Interment will follow in Blough Mennonite Cemetery, Holsopple, PA.
