Charles "Bud" E. Hayes, III

Charles 'Bud' E Hayes III, 77, of Crabtree, died Wednesday, September 17, 2025, in the Westmoreland Hospital. He was born December 12, 1947, in Beechview, PA, a son of the late Charles E. Hayes II and Catherine Bondi Hayes.

Bud, as he was known by his loved ones, was a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University. He used his degree in Metallurgy as he worked in the steel mills in Butler. He was a member of St. Bartholomew Church, Crabtree. Beyond his professional life, Bud was an avid fisherman. He often found obscure locations where he pulled off the road if he saw a spot where he could fish. Any body of water, no matter the size, was an opportunity for Bud to cast his reel. He also loved looking at classic cars, golfing and spending time with his granddaughters as well as talking on the phone to his late twin brother.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin brother, Robert Hayes.

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Yvonne M. Garofola Hayes; his daughters, Stephanie Mortimer (Brandon) and Kristin McCunn (Scott); his cherished granddaughters, Caydence and Alivia Mortimer and Alexandra and Gabriella McCunn; his sister, Nancy Taylor (Benjamin); several in-laws, nieces and nephews and his beloved canine companion, Sage.

There will be no public viewing. Relatives and friends of Bud are invited to attend his funeral mass to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 23, 2025 in the St. Bartholomew Church, with Fr. Justin Matro, OSB, celebrating. Everyone please go directly to the Church.

Interment will follow in Calvary Hill Cemetery, Crabtree.
