Carl Roscosky

Carl J. Roscosky, 89, of Greensburg, died peacefully Tuesday, August 23, 2022 in the Hempfield Manor. He was born January 30, 1933, in Harrison City, a son of the late Andrew and Stella Kolodgie Roscosky.  Carl graduated from Penn Township High School in 1950. He was a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania with majors in elementary and special education in 1959. He received his master's degree and administration certification from Duquesne University in 1976. He was a retired Special Education instructor from Hempfield Area School District. Carl worked for 32 years with special needs students, he also served as an assistant junior high principal for three years.  After retiring from HASD, Carl was a long time employee of the Pantalone Funeral Home, Inc.  He was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served with the 82nd Airborne Division from 1953-1955. He was very proud of the 24 parachute jumps he made during this time.  He enjoyed volunteering to work the polls at Hose Co. #2 during elections for several years. In his spare time, his passion was keeping his cars spotless and playing golf, which he loved. He was extremely proud of the five holes-in-ones he had over the years.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Mazzagetti Roscosky who died in 2019; brothers, Walter, Francis, Ralph “Bucky”, Paul Roscosky; sisters,  Elizabeth “Libby” Zbrzeznj, Clara Wichrowski, Josephine “Jo” Zubaty and Dorothy “Dot” Tawney; and nephews William, Edward and Kenneth. He was the last member of his immediate family.  He is survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews, especially Art, Bernie, Betty Jo, Dave, Don, Donna, Marcy, Mary Jo, Paul, Susie and Terri.  Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Carl, Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Clement L. Pantalone Funeral Home, Inc. 409 W. Pittsburgh Street, Greensburg, PA 15601, (724) 837-0020.  Parting prayers will be held in the funeral home Monday at 9:00 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass to be celebrated at 9:30 a.m., in the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, Greensburg.  Entombment will follow in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Special Olympics - Westmoreland County, PO Box 547, Greensburg, PA  15601, or a charity of one's choice.  Carl’s family has entrusted his care to the Pantalone Funeral Home Inc., Greensburg.  For online condolences / directions, visit us at pantalone.com.
