Carl Izzo, Sr.

Carl P. Izzo, Sr ., 85, of Murrysville, died Monday, July 17, 2017, in William Penn Care Center. He was born July 13, 1932, in Dunbar, a son of the late Albert and Grace Grass Izzo. Carl was a retired fellow scientist for Westinghouse Research Labs and a veteran of the Air Force. He was a member of Mother of Sorrows Church, Murrysville, and an active 4th degree knight of the Knights of Columbus, Council 1480, serving as past Grand Knight. He was also active with the PA Railroad Technical and Historical Society and an avid model railroader. Carl was active with the Pittsburgh Central Catholic Alumni and helped with planning their reunions. He was a proud member of the Alpha Phi Delta Fraternity. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Campbell Izzo; and his son, Carl P. Izzo, Jr. He is survived by his three daughters, Cynthia Atterbury (Doug), of Johnstown, Sandra Rudisill (Jim), of Monroeville, and Linda DeFrancesco (Bobby), of Greensburg; his daughter-in-law, Mary Claire Izzo, of Greensburg; ten grandchildren, Emily, Maria Kathryn and Carl P. Izzo III; Margaret, Christina and Elizabeth Atterbury; James (Kerry) Rudisill and Jessica Rudisill and Robert and Nicholas DeFrancesco; a sister, Marilyn Guyker (Donald), of Coraopolis; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Carl from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the CLEMENT L. PANTALONE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 409 W. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, PA 15601, (724) 837-0020. Additional viewing will be held from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Thursday in Mother of Sorrows, Church, 4202 Old William Penn Highway, Murrysville, PA 15668, (724) 733-8870, followed at 10 a.m. by a funeral Mass. Entombment will follow in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to CASA of Westmoreland, Inc., 2 N. Main St, Greensburg, PA 15601.
