Beverly J. Courtney

Beverly J. (Maxwell) Courtney, 79, of Greensburg, died Monday, March 02, 2026, in Newhaven Court. She was born November 05, 1946, in Sharon, a daughter of the late Ralph and Margaret McIntee Maxwell.

Bev grew up in Sharon, PA, and graduated from Sharon High School. She earned a nursing degree from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh and began her career as a staff nurse and educator at several area hospitals. From 1990 to 2005, she served as Education Coordinator at HealthSouth Hospital of Pittsburgh. Bev also taught in the nursing program at Westmoreland County Community College, mentoring two generations of new nurses. A devoted parishioner of St. Paul’s Church and an active member of the Rosary Altar Society, she remained deeply involved in her community. She was a Red Cross CPR instructor and volunteered with the Duquesne University RNWIN program and the Westmoreland County Food Bank. Bev was a Penn State Master Gardener, coordinating the planting and maintenance of two gardens at Twin Lakes Park. She was a friend to all animals, caring for many creatures—furry, feathered, and finned—over the years.

Bev is survived by her husband Bill, daughter Jennifer and son-in-law Nathan and son David.

Relatives and friends of Beverly will be received Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Clement L. Pantalone Funeral Home, Inc. 409 W. Pittsburgh Street, Greensburg, PA 15601, (724) 837-0020.

The Angels of Westmoreland Honor Guard will hold a service Friday, at 6:30 p.m. in the funeral home.

Prayers of transfer will be said in the funeral home Saturday at 9:30 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Paul Church.

Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Greensburg.

Bev’s family thanks the loving staff at New Haven Court for all they did to care for Bev. The family is also grateful to Penn Hospice, Senior Helpers of Greensburg and Griswold Home Care.
