Antonette Spinelli

March 21, 1925 — April 30, 2016

Antonette G. (DeLuca) Spinelli , 91, of Greensburg, died Saturday, April 30, 2016, in the Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital. She was born March 21, 1925, in Crabtree, a daughter of the late Caesar and Ersilia Pillie DeLuca. Antonette was a member of Blessed Sacrament Cathedral and their Rosary Altar Society and the Autumn Leaves. She was also a charter member and past president of St. Anne Auxiliary, where she spent countless hours volunteering until she was in her 80s. She was also a member and past president of the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women and had been voted once as Woman of the Year. Antonette loved to cook for her family and friends. Everyone was always welcome at her table. She was a gentle soul who will be remembered for her kindness and generosity. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank J. Spinelli; a grandson, Michael Dropik; a brother, Ralph DeLuca; a sister, Mary Kerul; and two nieces, Lorraine Colvin and Janet Kucik. She is survived by her seven loving children, Rosemary Abeles and husband, Daniel, of Murrysville, Barbara Emili and husband, Jerry, of Greensburg, Mary Elizabeth Ammon and husband, Dave, of North Huntingdon, Lucy Lusk and husband, Tom, of McDonald, Anthony Spinelli and wife, Susan, of Flagstaff, Ariz., Frank Spinelli Jr. and wife, Susan, of Greensburg, and Gina Dropik and husband, Mike, of Gaithersburg, Md.; 11 grandchildren, Sara Abeles, Jessica Jonnet and husband, Shawn, Dominic Ammon, Amanda Cashman and husband, Alex, Jenna Stabile and husband, Jason, Bill Lusk and wife, Jill, Joe Spinelli, Sara Garbin and husband, Jeff, Frank Spinelli III and Hayden and Daniel Dropik; two great-grandsons, Brendan Jonnet and Charlie Cashman; a brother, James DeLuca and wife, Maryann, of Port Clinton, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Antonette from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in the CLEMENT L. PANTALONE FUNERAL HOME INC., 409 W. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, PA 15601, 724-837-0020. Parting prayers will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home, followed by a funeral Mass to be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Cathedral. Entombment will follow in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum. The family would like to thank the staff of Weatherwood Manor and Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital for the loving and compassionate care that was given to their mother.
